Now pay careful attention because the next sentence is something rare, something dear, something to be kept for posterity, because it’ll never be writ again:
*****Ed Milliband was right. ******
Wow.
Its a tough contest between who is more hateful; the leader of the opposition party, the hapless, left-leaning lummox, or the Daily Mail, bastion of the right wing, so staunchly conservative and Conservative that its now just finding its true new home with UKIP, the views of which concur with that newspaper’s own dreams in a reactionary, xenophobic and overly nationalistic style. The (nominal) Conservative Party is currently insufficiently conservative for most of the Mail’s views.
So when, raking through Milliband’s father’s diaries, written when the man was 17 years old, before Ed was even a flicker of his imagination, before either Wallace or Grommit was born, they found a comment which said how ‘I sometimes think it would be better if England lost the war…’
Oh my. Treason. The Mail would hang him if there was still a death penalty and Ralph Milliband wasn’t already dead. So they did the next best thing; attacked the (bastard) son. Which was the whole point of trawling through the diaries in the first place.
My source at the Daily Mail… (yes, I have a source and she visited me yesterday because of a minor contact lens problem; her lenses weren’t seeing things with sufficient right winginess for her employers and she wondered if I had anything newer, some new super-fascist lens or something that could spot a Rumanian pickpocket from 50 yards…) and she told me that the sentence was published without its context. What a shock that is. Newspapers taking sentences out of context. Wow. They’ll be tapping phone lines next.
Ralph Milliband was an immigrant from Belgium. That fucking country agaiaiaiain. And he found England to be xenophobic, ultra-nationalistic and very exclusive of ‘foreigners’, French speakers and others who smell a bit funny. So his comment about losing the war was to that it would show those war-torn Brits exactly what the end point of their views would produce. ie Hitler’s Germany, genocide of undesirables, the whole package deal.
But as Milliband senior went on and became an outspoken academic and socialist/communist proponent, he won the enmity of the Daily Mail. The owner of which, whilst pasts are being revealed, comes from a line of horrible xenophobic nationalists who were very very supportive of Hitler pre-war. Ooooohhhhh.
Ralph Milliband may have given his sons the complete left-wing experience whilst growing up, other than the fact that they were quite rich and lived the good life, but its most unlikely that lack of patriotism was part of the deal.
I don’t like Ralph Milliband because he was a jew-hating jew, as is his wife and that’s rather horrid. And I don’t like Ed. But I fucking hate the Daily Mail and I hate fascists and nationalists.
Otherwise I’d live in Greece, which has suddenly become Nazi Central as half their mps have been arrested for dressing up as Stormtroopers and discussing the re-invasion of Poland. Well, if they had any money they would.
I sometimes wish…
maybe not in print.
Happy Wednesday
