Every morning, first thing, I check on the BBC. I’m not interested in how many planes have crashed, how many goals Harry Kane’s scored, how many new taxes Andy Burnham’s going to impose on me. Not now. That’s all for later. For now it’s about the weather. Just the weather. Specifically: the rainfall. And what I’m looking for is, as above, a ‘zero day’. Every hour, zero probability of rainfall. Fantastic. I can take my bike. If there are non-zeroes, I have to check when. If they’re around travel time, then I won’t bike it. I hate the rain. It makes biking hazardous and… errr… it makes you wet. One day, so wet Mel wouldn’t let me enter the house clothed. Not just a fantasy thing, everything was dripping, underwear included. Though to be honest, me, in a wet shirt, it’s pretty awesome. (Gag now).
The last time I took the tube to work was May. Can’t remember which day, exactly, but May. 5 months ago. The odd rainy days we’ve had here, I’ve been away. But otherwise, every single working day (not that I work every day, but most) it has been dry. And it ends today. Tomorrow doesn’t have zeroes. It has 80 and 90%. I hate them.
America has taken its bombers out of RAF Fairford. Twelve of ‘em. The ones that Kier Starmer reluctantly allowed to re-fuel here en route to Iran. Because he was a wimp who was scared of involvement. Anyway, after last weekend’s alleged ‘foiled attack’ on the air field, even though they released the would-be perpetrators on bail, Trump suddenly (and it was ‘sudden’) called his planes ‘home’. But like ‘immediately’. Before the mid-air refuelling craft had even finished fuelling up. (Apparently that’s unusual).
Marco Rubio said, all dead casual-like, ‘it’s not unusual to move assets around the world’. Nothing more to see here. Kind’a thing.
Whereas Trump and Vance stated, or implied very strongly, that there had been a direct ‘threat’.
And let’s face it. After the debacle of the other weekend, when 3 vans of odd-bods took a load of ‘accelerant’ (petrol) to a contentious air force base, untroubled by police, security services, intelligence agencies, but for the vigilance of one concerned farmer-lady it would have all kicked off… I’d take my dozen, 300 million dollar planes out of here too. And letting the guys out on bail was yet another way to impress Trump. He’s Mr Heavy Handed and we became Featherweights.
They can park one in my garden if they like. Should fit.
Happy (dry) Tuesday
A xxxx
